ABOUT YOUR ROLE: Production \& Repair Unit Manager

A great opportunity has become available for a highly experienced professional to join the Underwater Systems (UWS) team based in Rydalmere, working across the Flexible Manufacturing Centre and Flexible Repair Centre, both a strategic capability within the UWS Business Line and a critical element of the growth strategy for the Australian business. At the core of this leadership role, you will focus on execution and ensuring performance in terms of delivery on time, cost, quality and continuous improvement.

The APRU Manager, FMC has three major areas of responsibility:

(i) Management of the FMC manufacturing and repair operations

(ii) Developing and maintaining a unified, respectful and cooperative team culture

(iii) Improving the centres operational performance

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Production \& Repair Unit Manager , you are accountable to:

  • Ensuring the functional management of the entire production ecosystem
  • Developing the team’s skills to increase their autonomy
  • Interface and manage the support functions allocated in the APRU at the pace of production (Supply Chain, Process Engineering, Lean \& Performance)
  • Ensuring the maintenance of standard costs, propose areas for improvement, pilot the improvements
  • Developing and supporting the Team Leaders
  • Optimising production/repair and investigating work in progress by taking steps to improve productivity and reduce rework
  • Participating in Supply Chain reviews
  • Promoting and implementing the LEAN transformation approach

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

  • Qualified degree in relevant field
  • Strong Technical knowledge of electro mechanical products and their manufacturing or repair processes
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles and principal flows
  • Knowledge of industrial management control and budgeting process
  • Implementation of continuous improvement tools (Gemba Walks, 5S, just-in-time, PDCA)
  • Use of digital tools/dashboards to manage your activities
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Foster growth in others and in yourself
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
