About the Role

An opportunity exists for an Operations Coordinator to join Aurizon’s rail \& logistics operations team based at our Avon WA depot. In this role, you will coordinate train crew and yard operations, ensuring the cost-effective deployment of resources while maintaining a high level of customer service.

This is an excellent opportunity to transition into the rail industry, applying your existing operational experience in a new and rewarding environment. Full training will be provided to support your success in this safety-critical role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating daily train service and maintenance activities
  • Managing operational changes to meet schedules and performance targets
  • Developing and maintaining effective processes and systems
  • Promoting Aurizon’s “We know safe, We choose safe” safety culture
  • Leading and supporting a high-performing team environment
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures

Roster \& Working Conditions

This role operates on a continuous shift roster, comprising:

  • 12-hour shifts
    • Day shift: 05:00 – 17:00
    • Night shift: 17:00 – 05:00
  • 4 days on, 4 days off rotation, including weekends and public holidays

Candidates must be comfortable working long shifts, including nights, and managing fatigue in a safety-critical environment.

About You

You are a strong communicator with the ability to perform in a dynamic operational environment. You will also bring:

  • Experience in operations, logistics, scheduling or similar roles
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Frontline leadership experience (rail, mining, logistics or heavy industry preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Cert IV in Frontline Management
  • Train driving and/or shunting qualifications
