About the role:

Are you an experienced Nurse Practitioner passionate about transforming health outcomes and reducing inequities for people living with complex mental health and addiction challenges?

Health New Zealand Counties Manukau is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our Early Psychosis Intervention Team (EPIT). This is a unique opportunity to practice at the top of your scope while providing expert clinical leadership, advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and service development. EPIT is a specialist community-based mental health service for young adults aged 18 to 30. We provide support to individuals experiencing early signs of psychosis or an At-Risk Mental State.

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide autonomous and collaborative advanced nursing practice to tangata whaiora and their whaanau across a range of community and specialist mental health settings.

You will play a critical role in:

  • Delivering advanced mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing management, including those subject to the Mental Health Act.
  • Prescribing and managing medications within your scope of practice.
  • Managing complex presentations and reducing clinical risk.
  • Improving access to quality healthcare for people with high and complex needs.
  • Developing innovative models of care.
  • Providing expert clinical consultation and leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Building strong partnerships with primary care providers, NGOs, community agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and developing nursing colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
  • Leading quality improvement, research, education and service development initiatives.

About You:

  • NZ Registered Nurse Practitioner with a current APC
  • Mental Health scope of practice
  • 5+ years recent clinical experience in Mental Health \& Addictions
  • Expert or Senior level on the PDRP
  • Full \& clean NZ Drivers Licence
  • Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Masters degree in nursing or equivalent
