Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the full spectrum of project and site-related matters. Implement and monitor all aspects of fabrication activities from raw material procurement (steel plates, beams, sections, etc) to project completion and delivery.
- Prepare detailed material takeoff lists, nesting plans, and resource schedules. Efficiently allocate tasks and manpower based on background, workload, project requirements, and specific welding certifications.
- Act as the primary point of contact to liaise with clients, consultants, and local/statutory authorities on all project and structural steel fabrication matters.
- Monitor subcontractors’ performance, workshop progress, dimensional tolerances, and quality inspection standards.
- Organize and attend internal meetings with supervisors and subcontractors to resolve technical fabrication issues, including welding defects, distortion control, and the logistics of heavy steel components.
- Constantly monitor and manage project workflows to ensure production accuracy and productivity are maintained while keeping project costs strictly within budget.
- Implement and monitor all policies, activities, procedures, and instructions required by the QESH (Quality, Environment, Safety \& Health) management system, placing a strong emphasis on steel fabrication hazards (hot work, lifting operations, and confined space welding).
- Undertake any and all other duties and responsibilities related to steel fabrication projects as instructed by Management.
Job Requirements \& Qualifications
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline.
- In-depth understanding of steel fabrication processes, including cutting, machining, surface finishing, and welding procedures.
- Ability to interpret complex steel shop drawings, handle engineering documentation, and manage nesting plans for CNC cutting.
- Competency in Project Management software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and coordination skills for managing client and consultant relationships.
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
