Project Delivery Practice Lead

Introduction:

DDS IT is seeking an experienced Project Delivery Practice Lead to establish, lead, and mature our Project Delivery Practice (PDP). This is a rare opportunity to shape how projects are delivered across a growing New Zealand technology services organisation, with genuine executive support and influence.

This role offers a unique balance of strategic leadership, practice development, customer engagement, and hands-on project delivery ownership. Operating in a “player-coach” capacity, you will help define delivery governance, methodologies, reporting, tooling, and operational standards, while also leading complex or high-profile customer projects.

Description:

What you’ll be doing

You will play a key role in building a trusted and scalable delivery function that improves project outcomes, strengthens governance, and supports DDS IT’s continued growth.

Key responsibilities include:

Establishing and evolving DDS IT’s Project Delivery Practice, including governance, delivery standards, reporting, and ways of working

Leading complex or strategically important customer projects end-to-end

Improving project delivery maturity, portfolio visibility, and operational consistency

Developing reporting dashboards and delivery insights for leadership decision-making

Partnering closely with Executive Leadership, Sales, Account Management, and Technical Delivery teams

Supporting and mentoring Project Managers and Coordinators across the delivery function

Driving continuous improvement across delivery processes, tooling, and customer outcomes

Skills and Experiences:

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a senior delivery leader with proven experience leading project delivery functions, PMOs, or delivery practices within IT or technology services environments. You will bring strong stakeholder engagement capability, commercial awareness, and experience operating across Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery environments.

You will also bring:

Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels

Experience improving delivery governance, reporting, and operational maturity

Confidence operating within evolving or ambiguous environments while building structure and process

Strong commercial, financial, and risk management capability

A continuous improvement mindset with a practical, hands-on approach to delivery
