Manager, Applications Engineering

Job Summary \& Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to support customers on the application of Onto Innovation Inspection tools (FFLY series) for Panel based manufacturing processes. And the main purpose of this opening is to support panel customers in Taiwan and worldwide, this manager will be located in Taiwan office. This requires traveling to customer sites to troubleshoot process integration related issues, as well as the evaluation of tool performance and implementation of new features. The position also supports the customers by training them on system operation (recipe creation) and how to get the most benefit from our tool. The Applications manager will also support the Sales and marketing group by providing technical direction in order to secure future sales of equipment and services.

It will be few apps engineers report to applications manager directly. And applications manager will report to applications director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide both on-site and remote applications support to customers. Assist customers in solving problems related to the application of Onto Innovation steppers to their manufacturing processes.
• Supports the Applications Lab in Taiwan and HQ for live demo with customer and provides execution support when required.
• Interface with external customers and internal departments to best determine equipment specifications.
• Perform experiments and/or analytical investigations within guidelines supplied by senior engineering in HQ
• Report on results of experiments, tests and studies, provide preliminary interpretation.
• Aid in design and development of new equipment or redesign of existing systems to meet customer requirements.
• Communicate with external sales personnel and internal departments to determine customer needs.
• Apply good problem solve skills to support customer process related issues and applications issues.
• Will be required to work with Marketing to generate data for conferences and magazine articles
• Demonstrate systems to customers and provide customer training to ensure systems are being used effectively.
• Up to 30% travel is required with extended stays at customer locations

Qualifications

Education \& Experience:

• Master or Associates degree preferred, will consider experience versus degree
• >5 years process engineering experience with wafer or panel manufacturing facility
• >3 years hands on experience with inspection tool (DFLY or FFLY will be a plus) and good knowledge of inspection \& metrology
• Support inspection demo lab experience
• Good English written and verbal communication skills essential
• Ability to work with limited direction and take initiative to solve problems
• Can function under pressure
• Can work with team in the field without any problem
