Brief description of the job

The HSE manager performs the function of occupational safety specialist within IMI Buschjost and is appointed as such. They support and advise the management, the management team and the supervisors in all matters of occupational safety, in particular in the preparation of risk assessments, the monitoring of internal changes, the design of training courses and instructions as well as the implementation of priority programmes for occupational safety. In addition, the HSE manager works on an interdisciplinary basis on projects to achieve the climate and environmental goals at the Bad Oeynhausen site. As a staff function, the HSE manager reports directly to the local site manager and, functionally, to the divisional HSE Director Europe. The HSE manager takes part in internal and cross-site audits within the IMI Group. The further development of a lived and perceptible safety culture is a central component of the tasks. In doing so, the Group's specifications must be implemented through its own impulses and exemplified by acting as a role model. It is the clear goal of the implementation of the zero-accident strategy.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Working with the site's leadership team to advance and develop the company's HSE strategy, leveraging innovation and best practices to promote the company's sustainable development.

  • Assumption of the functions and field of activity of occupational safety specialist at the Bad Oeynhausen site

  • Implementation and assurance of the IMI HSE Excellence Framework Standard of IMI.plc as well as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001

  • Management and organization of energy and environmental projects

  • Lead, manage, coach and guide the site team, fostering a culture of HSE excellence and accountability

  • Organization and implementation of training courses and workshops for employees to promote safe and resource-saving behavior.

  • Definition and implementation of standards and procedures in cooperation with the functional area concerned

  • Develop and set goals and targets that align with the objectives of the business unit and the group, monitor progress and track company performance.

  • Advice on the procurement of work equipment and the design of workplaces

  • Accompaniment and support in the preparation/maintenance of risk assessments

  • Implementation of training and instruction

The profile:

  • Degree in engineering or natural sciences or technical training
  • Specialist for occupational safety according to §6 ASiG and DGUV Regulation 2

  • Several years of professional experience in EHS/HSE management, ideally in an industrial and international environment

  • Knowledge of the relevant ISO accreditation frameworks and auditing of management systems would be an advantage

  • Working in a global manufacturing/technology company and balancing strategic and operational work.

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment and emergency measures as well as comprehensive knowledge of legal frameworks, regulations, standards and regulations

  • Good knowledge of energy, environmental, fire and industrial hygiene processes is desirable

  • Ability to develop the safety culture and influence leaders and stakeholders

  • Analytical, solution-oriented and pragmatic way of working

  • Good communication skills and persuasiveness

  • Fluent German and good written and spoken English skills
