Job Description
1. Financial Planning \& Budgeting
- Develop and manage annual budgets for collections, marketing, retail stores, and e-commerce operations and other departments
- Forecast seasonal revenue based on past trends, pre-orders, and fashion cycles
- Allocate resources for design, production, and promotional campaigns
2. Cost Control \& Margin Management
- Monitor production costs (fabrics, trims, labor, logistics) to ensure target margins
- Analyze gross profit margins by product line, season, and sales channel
- Work with supply chain and design teams to optimize cost-efficiency
3. Sales \& Inventory Analysis
- Track sell-through rates, markdowns, and inventory turnover
- Analyze sales performance across wholesale, retail, and online platforms
- Assist in pricing strategy and discount planning based on financial impact
4. Financial Reporting \& Compliance
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry-specific tax rules (e.g., import/export duties)
- Report to brand executives or investors with clear financial KPIs
5. Cash Flow \& Working Capital Management
- Monitor cash flow from seasonal sales cycles and fashion shows
- Manage supplier payments, pre-orders, and collection advances
- Plan for financing needs during low-revenue off-seasons
6. Strategic Planning
- Provide insights for store expansion, market entry, or digital transformation
- Evaluate investment in new collections, collaborations, or brand extensions
- Support decision-making on marketing spend and ROI (e.g., influencer campaigns, fashion weeks)
7. Coordination with Cross-functional Teams
- Work closely with merchandising, production, and marketing departments
- Align financial goals with creative and operational timelines
- Ensure budget discipline across departments
8. Team Management
- Lead the finance team and oversee daily accounting operations
- Train staff on fashion-specific financial reporting and cost tracking
- Ensure timely reconciliation and closing processes
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or CA (Chartered Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance roles
- Minimum 5-7 years of managerial experience is required
- Experience in retail or fashion is highly valued
- Strong understanding of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
- Proficiency in ERP systems like Odoo, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or QuickBooks
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Knowledge of VAT laws in the UAE
- Budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal control expertise
- Familiarity with UAE tax laws, corporate governance, and free zone regulations
- Understanding of commercial laws and banking practices in the UAE
- Awareness of immigration \& local labor laws when managing teams
- Leadership and team management
- Strong communication and presentation skills (English is mandatory; Arabic is a plus)
- Ability to work in multicultural, fast-paced environments
