The Opportunity

Are you an up-and-coming Oracle Database Administrator looking to take your career to the next level within a massive enterprise environment? FinXL IT Professional Services is seeking an Associate Oracle DBA for a long-term engagement with one of our premier financial services clients.

This is an incredible opportunity to get hands-on with critical banking systems and cutting-edge database technology. This is a 12-month contract role starting October 1st, offering a hybrid working model (2 days in the office, split between Kogarah and Wynyard) and a salary of up to $85k base + super.

About the Role

This role is designed as an entry point into a highly technical, dynamic team. You will bring your foundational DBA experience and eagerness to learn, and in return, you will gain exposure to enterprise-scale database architecture, automation, and performance tuning. You will assist the senior engineering team in maintaining the stability and availability of essential banking platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the day-to-day management, support, and troubleshooting of Oracle databases.
• Support the team with database upgrades and migrations (Note: flexible working hours may be occasionally required to support critical out-of-hours events).
• Gain hands-on exposure to maintaining and patching Oracle databases on Exadata.
• Help execute routine change, incident, and problem management tasks.
• Collaborate with the team using agile methodologies and tools like Confluence and Jira.
• Learn and grow your skills in database automation, DevOps, and performance tuning.

About You:

• 3 to 5 years of practical experience as a Database Administrator.
• A solid foundational understanding of the Oracle product suite.
• Effective and concise communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• A proactive mindset with strong analytical problem-solving skills and a diligent work ethic.
• Nice to have (but not mandatory): Basic scripting skills (SQL, PL/SQL, Shell), or exposure to other databases like PostgreSQL.
