The British School of Bahrain is committed to providing a high-quality, international education for students in the Kingdom of Bahrain. We are a selective, coeducational, independent Nursery-through-Year 13 school. Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England and Wales, with some adaptations to the local context and offers IGCSE and A-Level/BTEC examinations. The British School of Bahrain (BSB) is seeking to appoint a Visa and Government Relations Officer to start in August, 2026. This role is mainly responsible in the efficient and effective management of visa, LMRA, CIO, MOE, MOL \& GOSI HR-related transactions. Ensures good network and builds relationships with the ministries.

Responsible for updating the Head of HR on the latest employment legislations and amendments to requirements for visa processing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ministry Liaison

  • Responsible for the timely processing and renewal of work visa, residency permit and CPR of new and existing staff.
  • Responsible for the LMRA, CIO and medical exam formalities for new hire expatriate staff
  • Apply visit visa if and when required, and ensure Letter of Undertaking is completed.
  • Liaise with the Deputy Head of HR for the monthly updating of GOSI and LMRA in the system against the actual HR list of staff; arrange to add new staff and delete resigned staff.
  • Ensure that copies of passport, visa and CPR are updated and kept in the HR file both hard and digital copies.
  • Assist the teaching staff in their requests for visa assistance.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of employment legislations, the Bahrain Labour Law and amendments to requirements for visa processing.

MOE/BQA/BSO Documentation

  • Collate all documentations required for MOE teaching permit application and renewal and ensure tracking of applications and follow up status.
  • Coordinates closely with the HR Assistant to ensure all documentation requirements are in proper order.
  • Responsible for completing the annual MOE Statistics reportorial requirements in coordination with the Ministry Liaison Officer.
  • Responsible in preparing and organizing data required for MOE/BQA/BSO audit and inspection. These should be kept current and updated at all times.

SKILLS REQUIREMENT

  • Working knowledge and experience of immigration, GOSI, MOE, LMRA and labour law affecting national and expat employment.
  • Demonstrate strong skills in employee relations and people management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Native Arabic speaker with excellent English communication skills both reading and writing
  • Good planning and organising skills and effective time management skills.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE (BAHRAINI ONLY) WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in HR administration. Working experience in the education sector is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working in a Google environment preferred
