Trainee / Diagnostic Genetic Scientist (Scientific Officer)

Location: Wellington Regional HospitalContract: Permanent Full-Time (1 FTE / 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday)

About the Role

Wellington Regional Genetics Laboratory provides a fully comprehensive genetic testing service; (www.wellingtongenetics.co.nz). Our service aim is to provide comprehensive genetic testing to the Central Region in the most professional, timely and effective manner possible. The team of 25 FTE consists of administrators, medical laboratory technicians and diagnostic genetic scientists (scientific officers).

About you

• Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLSc) from a New Zealand university or equivalent qualification/post graduate qualification/medical laboratory experience as determined by the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
• Registration / eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
• Proven laboratory experience ideally in diagnostic genetics (preferred) or keen interest in working in diagnostic genetics
