Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Tester to plan, design, and execute testing activities that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications. This role covers either Performance Testing (validating system speed, scalability, and stability under load) or Automation Testing (building and maintaining automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage), depending on project requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, business analysts, and project teams to identify defects early and ensure delivery of robust, high-quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Review business and technical requirements to design comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
• Execute testing activities in line with project timelines and quality standards, and log defects with clear reproduction steps.
• Collaborate with developers and business analysts to clarify requirements and validate fixes.
• Prepare and maintain test data, test environments, and testing documentation.
• Track and report testing progress, defect status, and test coverage to project stakeholders.
• Participate in test planning, estimation, and risk assessment for assigned modules or systems.
• Support regression testing and re-testing cycles across development and release phases.

Responsibilities – Performance Testing Track

• Design and develop performance test scripts using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling.
• Plan and execute load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests to identify system bottlenecks.
• Analyze performance test results, including response time, throughput, and resource utilization, and provide tuning recommendations.
• Work with infrastructure and development teams to monitor system behavior under test conditions.
• Prepare performance test reports with clear findings and recommendations for stakeholders.

Responsibilities – Automation Testing Track

• Design, build, and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or similar frameworks.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
• Identify suitable test cases for automation and maintain an efficient, scalable automation framework.
• Analyze automated test execution results and investigate failures to distinguish script issues from genuine defects.
• Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability, and execution speed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant working experience in software testing (adjust based on role seniority).
• Solid understanding of software testing life cycle (STLC) and software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in writing clear, structured test plans, test cases, and defect reports.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Azure DevOps, HP ALM).
• Basic understanding of SQL for data validation and test support.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Good command of English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)

• For Performance Testing: hands-on experience with JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar tools, and familiarity with APM tools (e.g., Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic).
• For Automation Testing: hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or Cypress, and scripting knowledge in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum project environments.
• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB or equivalent.

Other Information

• This is a fixed-term contract position open to local Malaysian talent.
• Candidate must be willing to be based on-site at the client's office location as required.
• Working hours and benefits are in accordance with Virtual Calibre's standard contract terms.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
