Not your typical summer job.

If you’re looking for a summer role where your work doesn’t just sit on a screen but actually gets built, this is it! At Boardwalk, our in-house design team delivers 15 - 20 projects a year across Canada and several will move through construction while you’re here. This summer includes new patio builds (including our Patio Makeover Contest), a leasing office renovation, and a lobby upgrade.

You’ll be part of a tight, high-performing team that works quickly, holds a high standard, and takes pride in what gets built. Our work has been recognized with multiple industry awards, including Renovation of the Year and Building of the Year.

The Opportunity

This is not a shadowing role. You’ll contribute to active projects alongside designers, engineers, and project managers with the chance to be involved from early design through to site work, staging, and final installs.

You’ll get exposure to a wide range of project types - leasing offices, show suites, gyms, community spaces, and outdoor patios and see how decisions made on drawings translate into real spaces.

We move fast, expect a lot from each other, and work as a team. If you want to contribute, learn quickly, and be part of real output, you’ll fit in well here.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to drawings, layouts, and presentation materials
  • Support finish, furniture, and artwork selections
  • Help prepare project documentation
  • Participate in site visits, staging, and installations
  • Assist with design research and internal standards
  • Jump in where needed - this is a hands-on role

You’ll fit if you

  • Are in an Interior Design program
  • Want to contribute, not just observe
  • Are organized, dependable, and easy to work with
  • Are comfortable in a fast-paced, team-first environment
  • Communicate clearly and take ownership of your work

Tools

  • AutoCAD (working knowledge expected)
  • SketchUp, rendering tools, and Adobe Creative Suite

What you get

  • Paid, full-time summer role
  • Real project experience on work that gets built
  • Mentorship from a high-performing in-house design team
  • Exposure to how projects move from concept to completion

Timing

May - August (flexible depending on your schedule)
