Our Mission

We seek to be at the forefront of making a positive impact on the world. Our focus is providing Clean Technology to make the world a more sustainable place and every single transaction we make creates a brighter future. Join Segen for an opportunity to help change the world with every action you make. It’s fast paced, challenging, dynamic and incredibly rewarding, because changing the world isn’t easy!

Segen Group has a vibrant and well‑established in‑house Software Engineering capability, supported by specialist partners. Within eCommerce, we lead the definition, design, and engineering of new B2B experiences in how we sell and service our products. The services you build will be both customer‑facing and colleague‑facing, integrating deeply with Commercial, Finance, Warehouse, and Fulfilment systems across our wider estate.

The Role

You are an accomplished mid to senior-level Software Engineer (full stack) and strong communicator, with deep expertise in building and scaling complex, composable solutions — ideally with experience developing eCommerce SaaS platforms (e.g., Shopify, BigCommerce, or commercetools) and leveraging AI and CICD within a collaborative development process.

You will develop software within an Agile squad to deliver a high‑performance, scalable solution that integrates front‑end systems with back‑end services to create seamless, powerful digital experiences for our customers and colleagues. You will work closely with senior Product and Engineering leaders and cross‑functional teams to ensure our platform meets both technical and business needs.

This is a high‑impact position where you will meaningfully contribute to the platform’s success in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Main Duties

  • This is a hands‑on contributor role, designing, delivering, and supporting software for a complex, scalable, composable eCommerce platform leveraging SaaS/PaaS to serve business customers and colleagues across multiple geographic locations (based from the UK).
  • Developing and integrating APIs, microservices, and third‑party solutions (e.g., ERP, PIM, CRM) to create a seamless customer experience.
  • Ensuring high‑quality, maintainable code aligned with engineering best practices.
  • Participating in collaborative code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical workshops.
  • Working closely with Product Management, UX/UI Designers, eCommerce SaaS providers, and DevOps to ensure the platform meets business requirements and delivers a high‑quality user experience.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand customer‑specific workflows, journeys, and technical requirements.
  • Implementing personalisation, catalogue management, pricing engines, and B2B‑specific capabilities such as complex order workflows, bulk ordering, and account‑based pricing.
  • Ensuring platform scalability and reliability to support large volumes of data and transactions, with a strong focus on uptime and responsiveness.
  • Implementing and maintaining high standards for security, data privacy, and compliance across all systems.
  • Leading initiatives for process improvement, performance optimisation, and technical‑debt reduction.

Note: This job description is not exhaustive. The jobholder should be flexible in undertaking other reasonable duties to meet business needs.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to tick every box, but strong candidates will demonstrate many of the following:

Must‑haves:

  • Extensive capability as a mid to senior level software engineer (full-stack development and testing) delivering complex digital products within a software development team (or equivalent) including CICD pipelines.
  • Strong capability with Infrastructure As Code such as Terraform (Bicep is preferred)
  • Strong understanding of API‑driven development, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and event‑driven architectures.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and adapt communication styles.
  • A deeply customer‑focused and curious mindset, comfortable engaging directly with users.
  • Capability to lead the technical delivery of complex initiatives, collaborating with cross‑functional partners to define the right outcomes.
  • Ability to influence team direction, roadmap discussions, and decision‑making.

Nice‑to‑haves:

  • Expertise working with our technology stack: TypeScript, Node, Shopify Liquid, Bicep, Azure DevOps and Pipelines
  • Experience with other modern front‑end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) and backend technologies (e.g. Python, Ruby).
  • Hands‑on experience with microservices architecture, serverless functions, and cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred, but AWS or GCP transferable).
  • Interest in emerging technologies and AI‑assisted design/development workflows (e.g. Cursor).
  • Complimentary skills in technical operations, security, user experience, software architecture, or Agile delivery.
  • Knowledge and or experience within the photovoltaic industry

For clarity the role does not involve line managing other colleagues.
