Signwriter

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Signwriter to join our team. The successful candidate will be involved in preparing, fabricating, applying and installing a wide range of signage for clients, vehicles, shopfronts, buildings and other surfaces.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consult with clients or supervisors to understand signage requirements, design specifications, measurements, colours and materials.
• Prepare sign layouts, lettering, graphics and designs using manual techniques and/or computer design software.
• Measure, mark and calculate lettering size, spacing, layout and positioning for signs.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, smoothing, masking and priming before applying signage.
• Cut, shape, print, paint, fabricate and assemble signage using materials such as vinyl, acrylic, aluminium, timber, plastic and other substrates.
• Apply vinyl graphics, decals, lettering and printed designs onto vehicles, windows, walls, shopfronts, boards and other surfaces.
• Operate signwriting tools and equipment, including cutting machines, printers, laminators, hand tools and installation equipment.
• Paint signs, lettering, logos and decorative designs where required.
• Install signs on buildings, displays, vehicles, hoardings, walls and other structures safely and accurately.
• Inspect completed signage to ensure accuracy, quality, durability and compliance with client requirements.
• Maintain, repair, replace or remove existing signage as required.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures when using tools, ladders, chemicals, paints, adhesives and installation equipment.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Work with other team members, installers, designers and clients to complete signage projects within required timeframes.

Skills and Attributes Required:

• Relevant experience in signwriting, signage fabrication or installation.
• Ability to read and follow design specifications, measurements and client instructions.
• Good practical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to use signwriting tools, equipment and materials safely.
• Knowledge of vinyl application, printing, fabrication and installation processes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good time management and ability to complete work within required timeframes.
