Job Description

The Senior Process Engineer will lead and execute feasibility studies, tender activities, and EP/EPC projects, ensuring process engineering deliverables are technically sound, cost-effective, compliant with company standards, and delivered within schedule. The role requires strong technical expertise in process simulation, package engineering, process safety, and multidisciplinary coordination. As a lead engineer, the incumbent will guide and mentor process engineers, drive design quality improvements, and ensure successful project execution in accordance with the Company's Project Execution Model (PEM) and HSEQ requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop process engineering deliverables including process simulations, Heat \& Material Balances (H\&MB), PFDs, P\&IDs, equipment sizing, line sizing, and equipment/instrument datasheets.
  • Perform and review process simulations using Aspen HYSYS, including selection and application of appropriate process packages.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation such as process descriptions, control narratives, relief load reports, operating philosophies, technical proposals, IOMs, and design procedures.
  • Ensure process designs are optimized for safety, operability, constructability, maintainability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Review plant layouts and equipment arrangements to ensure compliance with P\&ID requirements, operational accessibility, safety regulations, and maintenance considerations.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, commissioning, start-up, and site execution activities.
  • Act as Lead Process Engineer for assigned projects, coordinating all process engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Process Engineers and junior team members.
  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical, Structural, and Project Management disciplines.
  • Review and provide process inputs to other discipline deliverables and participate actively in interdisciplinary design reviews.
  • Identify technical risks, engineering challenges, and opportunities for improvement, and proactively implement solutions.
  • Develop process designs with a strong HAZOP mindset from the initial design stages to minimize safety and operability issues.
  • Ensure systems achieve the required quality and safety standards before HAZOP participation.
  • Actively contribute during HAZOP, SIL, and other process safety reviews, providing strong technical support and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSEQ requirements, industry codes, standards, and good engineering practices.
  • Promote continuous improvement in engineering quality, safety performance, and work processes.
  • Contribute to system design enhancements and standardization initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of improved engineering methodologies, tools, and workflows to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure process engineering activities are executed in accordance with the Company's Project Execution Model (PEM).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the Oil \& Gas, Energy, Water Treatment, or related process industries.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Process Engineer on EP/EPC projects.
  • Strong project execution experience from concept, FEED, detailed engineering, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Strong proficiency in Aspen HYSYS process simulation and process package selection.
  • Solid expertise in process engineering design, process safety, and engineering calculations.
  • Experience with process packages such as: Gas Dehydration Systems, Seawater Treatment Systems, CO₂ Removal Systems, Produced Water Treatment Systems.
  • Thorough understanding of process safety studies including HAZOP, relief systems, and safe design practices.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Good commercial awareness and cost-conscious engineering approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor process engineering teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize engineering activities in a dynamic project environment.
  • Proactive, innovative, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Capable of working independently while providing technical leadership and direction.
  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
