About the role
Shahrazad Jewellery is an established wholesale bullion and precious metals firm operating since 2014. We trade jewellery, physical and hedged precious metals across the GCC, Europe, Hong Kong, and India, supported by a network of LBMA-accredited refiner and counterparty relationships.
We are hiring a senior precious metals trader to run and grow a trading book. This is a front-office role for an experienced dealer who can price, execute, hedge, and manage risk independently while bringing a live network of counterparties. You will own trade flow end to end and work directly with the Managing Director on desk strategy.
This is a senior seat for a high-calibre trader. It is not a trainee or junior dealer position.
Key responsibilities
- Price and execute physical and paper precious metals trades (gold, silver, platinum, palladium) across spot and forward.
- Build and manage a trading book with clear PnL ownership.
- Hedge physical exposure using futures, forwards, and OTC instruments to protect margin.
- Manage and monitor desk risk daily, including price, position, counterparty, and FX exposure.
- Negotiate pricing, premiums, and terms directly with refiners, banks, and trade counterparties.
- Grow and maintain a network of buy-side and sell-side counterparties across the GCC, Europe, and Asia.
- Track LBMA benchmarks, spot movements, premiums, and macro drivers, and translate them into trade decisions.
- Coordinate with operations and logistics on settlement, allocation, vaulting, and physical delivery.
- Work with compliance to ensure all trades meet AML/CFT, KYC, and responsible sourcing obligations.
- Report PnL, positions, and market views to management on a regular cadence.
Requirements
These are the core must-haves for the role.
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on precious metals or bullion trading experience.
- Proven track record of running a profitable trading book.
- Strong, active network of counterparties (refiners, banks, dealers, trade houses).
- Deep working knowledge of hedging instruments: futures, forwards, options, and OTC structures.
- Solid command of risk management: position sizing, exposure limits, stop discipline, and counterparty risk.
- Fluency in physical bullion mechanics: purity, weights, premiums, allocation, settlement, and delivery.
- Comfort with trading platforms and price feeds (for example DGCX, CME, ICE, Bloomberg, Reuters).
- Strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Sound understanding of AML/CFT and responsible sourcing standards relevant to the metals trade.
Preferred
- Existing relationships with Local, International, and LBMA-accredited refiners or bullion banks.
- Experience trading across multiple corridors (GCC, Europe, Hong Kong, India).
- Familiarity with OECD due diligence and LBMA Responsible Gold standards.
- Degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Relevant professional certification is a plus.
- Additional languages (Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, or others used in regional trade).
What we offer
- Competitive base salary, set against experience and book.
- Performance bonus linked to desk PnL and brought-in flow.
- Tax-free income in Dubai, with no personal income tax on earnings.
- Direct access to the Managing Director and a fast decision-making structure.
- An established platform with active counterparty relationships across four regions.
- Visa and standard UAE employment benefits.
