Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Pty Ltd is Australia’s largest Tin producer. Bluestone is a well-established, high yield tin mine, mid way through an exciting redevelopment period. The Renison mine is located on Tasmania’s beautiful West Coast between the towns of Zeehan and Rosebery.

About the mine

It is an exciting time at the Renison underground mine, with a rolling 10-year Life of Mine plan. Renison has embarked on a progressive improvement journey to challenge the way we work and optimise our operation to increase our production and transform our mining style.

About the role

We are looking for a suitably qualified Senior Mine Surveyor to manage the survey functions of the underground mine. We are using state of the art survey techniques, utilising autonomous drones and building a Wi-Fi backbone to transform Renison into a world class data driven mine. Responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of the survey department and maintaining the quality of data and reports whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position reports to the Technical Services Superintendent.

Core responsibilities

• Develop and maintain systems that ensure data is captured, adjusted, stored and presented in accordance with regulatory minimums and in line with best industry practice.
• Provide guidance to operations to accurately execute engineering designs
• Provide EOM reporting as required.
• Drone operations
• Mentor mine surveyors.

The position is offered on a 4/3, 8/6 or 12/9 roster by arrangement.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a tertiary education and qualifications in Surveying, with a minimum 5 years’ experience. You will have an excellent attitude with proven leadership qualities, good time management, organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work within a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Experience in Deswik software (Renison has recently committed to transitioning to Deswik’s MDM platform) and drone pilot experience will be advantageous but not essential.
