The Compliance team develop and implement risk frameworks, standards and processes to enable Business Banking to comply with NZ and international laws and regulations. The team provide advice, guidance and support to all the Business Banking teams including Commercial, Rural and Small Business, Product and Marketing.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Compliance Manager to join ASB’s Business Banking team. In this role, you’ll lead on financial crime compliance, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders while helping shape a strong risk culture across the business.

You’ll play a key role in simplifying compliance, driving impactful change, and ensuring our regulatory obligations are met in a practical and effective way.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess and lead the response to new and evolving FC related legislation, regulations, and industry codes
  • Primary lead for Financial Crime product, channel, risk, compliance and customer assessments.
  • Design and enhance compliance frameworks, policies, and controls,
  • Build capability through training and awareness initiatives

  • 7+ years’ experience in financial services compliance, ideally within financial crime
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and risk management practices
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to translate complex information clearly
  • Experience leading or contributing to change and transformation initiatives
