We are seeking an experienced Security Assistant Manager to join our client’s manufacturing plant in Cambridge, ON. Our client, one of the largest automotive companies in the world, is a leader in the automotive industry and a favourite amongst drivers around the world. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years of experience in a security leadership capacity, along with extensive knowledge of security procedures. You have proven experience managing large teams and are skilled at resolving complex situations using a range of effective de‑escalation techniques. Self‑motivated and proactive, you take initiative and are recognized as a strong leader.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Main Location:Cambridge, ON
Shift: Rotational shift work, including 0800–2000 hours and 2000–0800 hours.
PayRate: $28.99/hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Security Assistant Manager (S/AM) is the leader of the Emergency Response team (ERT) and is responsible for all aspects of the client site’s security operations, fire prevention, and emergency response throughout the duration of their shift. The S/AM reports directly to the Site Manager (SM) and is responsible for the following:
- Ensure all security operations and administrative directives conform to policies and procedures set out by the client, Securitas Canada Ltd. and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
- Ensures that all client security, fire prevention and emergency response related duties are carried out with precision and accuracy in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Emergency Response SOPs (ERSOPs), and client policies.
- Perform leadership and management duties required for their respective team including administrative, training, supervisory duties and workplace injury/illness reporting.
- Lead and support the ERT during emergency situations including but not limited to fire, medical, spill and threat.
- Respond on foot, by Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) or S/AM vehicle to emergency situations, conduct scene assessment and co-ordinate appropriate response of ERT with local emergency services as required.
- Conduct comprehensive handover brief to oncoming S/AM during shift change to ensure all pertinent information is passed on when receiving handover; all relevant information is to be disseminated as required to appropriate team members.
- Review S/AM emails and calendars to become acquainted with relevant information, procedural updates, and upcoming events.
- Review and maintain S/AM shift report and payroll documents ensuring all entries are accurate, and shift activities are recorded.
- Ensure all appropriate filing is completed, and shift statistics are kept up to date and accurate.
- Delegate appropriate scheduling calls to Communications Team Member (C/TM) and update site schedule as required.
- Delegate and assign weekly/monthly inspections following up with audits to ensure completion.
- The initial point of contact for Securitas employee book offs, vacation requests and uniform/equipment requests, all forms to be completed and submitted to SM.
- Ensure JHSC monthly Health and Safety inspections are submitted on time.
- Conduct employee performance audits to ensure policy compliance, reporting all issues requiring follow up to SM.
- Complete the Employee Performance Management System for each team member to establish suitable goals and objectives, career development aspirations, monitor progress and provide bi-annual performance reviews as directed by SM.
- Provides relief and general support as required for breaks and lunch.
- Conduct weekly/monthly training to maintain competency levels and test emergency response including monthly training simulations to maintain continuous professional development of all team members.
- Comply with all Post Orders, SOPs, ERSOPs and client policies.
- Mentor and assist in the training and continuous improvement of new and existing team members.
- Complete all training, projects, additional duties and functions as directed by Securitas Management or Client representative
- Identify all training requirements for respective Team Member’s and coordinate with Trainer and Site Manager to ensure completion.
- Mentor and maintain competency level of a suitable back-up to carry out functions of the S/AM in the event of vacations, book offs or other absences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License and First Aid Certificate. First Responder (Canadian Red Cross certification completed within 6 months of hire date and to be maintained).
- Valid G class Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract
- Law \& Security, Police Foundations or equivalent Diploma from a recognized College or progressive leadership and management experience and site training in the positions of S/TM, C/TM and FPI.
- NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter level I \& II from a recognized College or Introduction to Interior and Exterior Fire Fighting (Completed through Lambton College).
- IMS 100. IMS 200 to be completed within 12 months of commencement of post.
- Willing to work at both client sites in both Cambridge, ON and Woodstock, ON locations as required.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training from a recognized provider to be completed within 3 months of commencement of post.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by recognized provider to be completed within 3 months of commencement of post.
- Competent in the use of Outlook, Excel, Word, Lenel and PowerPoint.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and be adaptive to changing environments and priorities.
- Able to think and act quickly to resolve problems while staying calm under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
