The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of New Zealand's largest hotels as Rooms Division Manager. Reporting directly to the Hotel Manager, you'll be a key member of the leadership team, with responsibility for Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance — leading the departments that shape every guest's stay from arrival to departure. As a visible, hands-on leader, you'll drive service excellence, financial performance and a high-performing team culture, and step into operational leadership of the hotel in the absence of the General Manager and Hotel Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance, ensuring exceptional guest service, efficiency and compliance with company standards.
  • Provide visible leadership across the hotel, working operational shifts and acting as Manager on Duty as required, particularly during peak arrival and departure periods.
  • Champion VIP, group and key guest arrivals and departures, and take ownership of guest complaints and service recovery.
  • Analyse Rooms Division financial performance — RevPAR, occupancy, average rate, payroll and departmental profitability — and prepare accurate monthly reports and forecasts.
  • Manage departmental budgets, rosters and productivity, working closely with the Revenue and Reservations Managers to optimise room revenue.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance teams, overseeing performance reviews, training and succession planning.
  • Maintain compliance across Tyalls audits, health and safety, security and hotel asset management.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Opera Cloud, HubOS and other relevant hotel systems.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven leadership experience across Front Office, Housekeeping or broader Rooms Division operations, ideally within a large or complex hotel.
  • A strong commercial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, labour costs and departmental performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent guest service instincts, with the composure to manage service recovery and VIP experiences under pressure.
  • A current Manager's Certificate, First Aid Certificate and Driver's Licence (or the ability to obtain these).
  • Working knowledge of hotel systems such as Opera Cloud, and a genuine passion for operational excellence.

How You Work

  • Inclusive leader — values diverse perspectives; builds belonging.
  • Owner's mindset — acts on data/feedback; ships improvements.
  • Hands-on and non-hierarchical — leads from the front.
  • Resilient and solutions-focused — stays calm, moves fast.

Perks from Day One

As part of EVT, you unlock Elevate Perks from your first day. Parity for all levels — no ivory towers.

  • 50% off dining and stays across EVT hotels – QT, Rydges, Atura, LyLo and more.
  • $2 movie tickets + discounts on Gold Class, Moonlight Cinema and Candy Bar.
  • Seasonal perks at Thredbo.
  • Rapid career growth across our hotel \& entertainment network.
  • Paid parental leave; community \& volunteering opportunities.
