To help us with this, we are searching for a Retail Risk and Compliance Specialist to join our team based in Invercargill, on a fixed term basis.

Are you a confident risk and compliance professional who enjoys partnering with the business to support good member outcomes? We’re looking for someone to join SBS Retail in a key first line role, helping our teams identify, understand and manage risk across retail operations, products, processes and member interactions.

What you'll be busy with:

Working closely with Retail leadership, frontline teams, and Risk and Compliance to;

  • embed strong risk practices,
  • support incident management and control oversight,
  • contribute to risk reporting and change initiatives,
  • promote clear ownership of risk and controls across the business.
  • maintain appropriate disclosure, member communication and regulatory requirements, ensuring obligations are understood and effectively implemented.
  • undertake first line risk assessment, monitoring and control oversight activities across Retail to support compliance with legislative requirements, regulatory expectations, internal policies, and the Bank’s risk management framework.

What you'll bring:

Essential

  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, controls, incident management and remediation processes.
  • Ability to analyse information, identify themes and communicate insights effectively to a range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing stakeholders and building strong working relationships across business functions.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Understanding the NZ regulatory environment and knowledge of relevant legislative requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience applying regulatory and legislative requirements in a banking or financial services environment.
  • Experience in operational risk management, compliance, conduct risk or related disciplines.

Banking industry knowledge * Experience supporting change initiatives.

Possess either a relevant tertiary/post graduate qualification in commerce, finance or law; or have substantial relevant experience within a financial institution or similar organisation

This role is full time, 37.5 hours a week, worked 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

It is fixed term for up to 24 months to cover a secondment due to a large programme of work.
