Key Responsibilities:

-1. Working with the manager, staff and residents or relatives to prepare a written comprehensive care plan according to facility standard for each resident that addresses personal care needs, health care needs and rehabilitation and reflecting residents assessed physical, psychological, spiritual; and cultural abilities, deficits and needs.

2. Overseeing medication administration to ensure safe delivery of same. Advising on care and administration of medication and ensuring that staff have an understanding of side effects of the medications administered. Check staff’s competence.

3. Providing and supervising care of residents particularly those who may need specialised nursing care, for example, a regular injection, wound dressing etc.

4. To deliver and ensure safe, efficient and therapeutically effective nursing care by good prioritisation of personal and collective workloads. The RN is expected to be a hands-on worker for showering, sponging, assisting residents and making beds. Respecting the rights, autonomy, privacy and dignity of residents.

5. Smooth operations of all services and care within the home. The RN will be responsible to check that meals are well presented and of a high standard and that all residents receive adequate food. Further, the RN will ensure that the home is well presented and clean.

6. The RN will ensure that new admissions are welcomed and settled in satisfactorily and that all necessary documentation is taken care of.

7. Inform relatives of any changes as result of GP visits.

10. Develops, documents and evaluates the initial care plan getting input from the resident and their family.

12. Coordinates with multidisciplinary team members to ensure their input into the care plan.

13. Demonstrates literacy and computer skills as appropriate to the facility for entry, storage and retrieval of information for clinical care

14. Ensures documentation is accurate and maintains confidentiality of information

15. Professional development, it is expected that the RN will attend regular in-service education sessions and staff meetings.

16. Ensuring the efficient and safe usage of supplies and equipment.

17. Orientation of new subordinates.

18. Public relations. It is expected that the RN will answer the telephone when possible and deal effectively and well with enquiries for bed vacancies.

19. To participate in annual performance appraisals

20. Designated Infection control and restraint co-ordinator with relevant responsibilities as per policies including required notifications. Maintains infection control principles, and directs others in this

21. Effective communication with manager as necessary.

22. Any other reasonable responsibilities that the manager deems necessary.

23. Notify the doctor of any new admissions and organise the new resident to be seen within 2 -5 working days after admission (if applicable).

24. Communicate with relatives and document same, i.e changes or updates in care plans, incidents, GP outcomes, resident unwell.

25. Ensures the resident has adequate explanation of the effects, consequences and alternatives of proposed treatment options

26. Conducts nursing practice in accordance with professional, ethical, cultural and relevant legislated requirements. Making professional judgments that will enhance nursing practice.

27. Demonstrates ability to apply the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

28. Recognises the impact of the culture of nursing on care protecting the resident’s well being within this culture.

29. Practice in a manner that respects each person’s identity and right to hold personal beliefs, values and goals.

30. Takes accountability for directing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing care that is provided by enrolled nurses, care givers and others. When delegating work, takes into consideration the roles and competencies of staff.

Promotes an environment that enables resident safety, independence, quality of life and health. Monitors and evaluate delegated activities.

Identifies and reports situations, accidents / incidents that affect residents and staff members’ health or safety. Follows up on outcomes of incidents and helps to prevent their recurrence.

Acts appropriately to prevent and / or manage emergencies and disaster situations .

Monitors the environment for potential hazards, and reports these for action

31. Accesses , maintains and uses emergency equipment and supplies.

32. Uses knowledge of challenging behaviour skills to achieve optimum outcome for all parties

33. Fulfilling the responsibilities as outlined in the ARC contract we have with the DHB

34. Responsible for medication reconciliation

35. Responsible for appropriate notifications i.e outbreaks etc. to DHB, microbiologist, MOH as required by the facility where assigned.

Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, treatments and assisting with daily activities.

-Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans based on residents needs.

-Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care.

-Ensure compliance with healthcare standards, policies and regulations.

-Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing first aid, CPR, or other life-saving interventions as necessary.

- Adapt to and comply with the policies, procedures, rules, and standards of care of each facility where assigned, while maintaining Marycare Agency's professional standards and relevant nursing requirements.

Qualifications:

-Current and valid NZ practicing certificate.

- Relevant nursing qualifications and clinical experience. 1 year of NZ RN experience (preferred) but not essential

-Able to work across different healthcare facilities and adapt to varying environments.

-Able to follow each facility's policies, procedures, and standards of care.

-Reliable, flexible, professional, and time-oriented.

-Full, valid driver's license and confident driving skills.

-Willing to travel between different facilities as required.

Pay: $38.00 – $40.00 per hour
