We have a permanent, full-time opportunity to join our Northern Region team as an Advisor – Public Health Planning and Performance within the National Public Health Service.

In this role, you will support the development, coordination, monitoring and reporting of public health planning and performance across the Northern Region. You will work closely with delivery leads, regional teams, national directorates, and Māori and Pacific partners to translate strategy, policy and priorities into practical and equitable programmes of work.

The role contributes across a range of areas, including:

  • Performance \& Planning: Supporting regional and national planning processes, including annual planning, operational planning, monitoring and reporting. Assisting with performance tracking, risk identification and coordination to support delivery against agreed priorities.
  • Technical Advice: Providing sound planning, performance and policy support advice, contributing to briefings, submissions, consultation responses and implementation activity, and supporting the translation of policy direction into planning and delivery.
  • Emergency Management: Supporting public health emergency readiness, response and recovery when required, and contributing to coordination, monitoring and reporting during outbreaks or incidents.

About the Team/Service/ Location

About you

You can demonstrate mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present effectively, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes.

You will bring:

  • A relevant graduate and/or post-graduate qualification.
  • Brings at least two years' experience in health, public sector, or local government planning and/or performance.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgement to support advice and decision making.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally
  • Is comfortable with ambiguity and can work with others through change with confidence and clarity.
  • Has experience working in partnership with Māori and/or Pacific Peoples communities.
  • Is committed to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
  • Can remain effective and focused when faced with shifting priorities, uncertainty, or incomplete information.
  • Holds a clean full NZ Driver's Licence.
