Project Manager - Sustainability
Job Description

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in construction, engineering, surveying or design? Are you looking for an opportunity to lead capital projects that directly contribute to the development of high-quality healthcare environments?

Working within a small, dedicated and collaborative team, you will have delegated responsibility for the successful delivery of individual capital schemes, from initial feasibility and design through to construction and completion. You will also take ownership of project budgets, ensuring schemes are delivered safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and within agreed financial parameters.

You will lead a diverse portfolio of major and minor capital projects across the Trust estate and wider Frimley Health Integrated Care System (ICS). This is a varied role that will see you working closely with clinical and operational teams, Estates and Facilities colleagues, Capital Directors, Estates Managers and CAD Technicians, alongside external consultants, contractors and other key stakeholders.

Project and Design Management

Lead feasibility studies and design development for major and minor capital schemes, including the preparation of whole-scheme budget estimates.

Develop project briefs collaboratively with end users, ensuring requirements are clearly defined and formally approved.

Coordinate the development of detailed design information with members of the design team.

Lead the delivery of capital projects both on and off site, ensuring they progress effectively from inception to completion.

Monitor and manage project budgets, identifying and addressing financial risks at an early stage.

Provide professional and technical advice on capital projects and estate development as required.

Procurement and Contract Management

Identify and recommend appropriate procurement routes in accordance with Trust Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).

Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation for smaller capital schemes and manage the associated tender process.

Manage external design consultants and contractors, ensuring clear project requirements and formal briefings are established.

Administer scheme contracts, including the use of ProCure22 templates and proformas where appropriate.

Monitor contractor performance and ensure a high standard of workmanship throughout construction.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

Build effective working relationships with clinical, operational and Estates and Facilities colleagues, ensuring their requirements are understood and incorporated into project delivery.

Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Provide regular progress updates on capital schemes, including formal reporting on a fortnightly basis or as required.

Work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, local authorities and other external organisations to support successful project delivery.

Information, Governance and Assurance

Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic project records for all relevant schemes.

Ensure Trust CAD drawings and associated technical information are kept accurate and up to date.

Obtain and maintain accurate as-built and as-installed drawings for completed projects.

Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant Trust policies, procedures, contractual requirements and governance arrangements.

Support the Associate Director, Hard FM, with delivery of the capital programme and contribute to the strategic planning and development of the Trust estate.

Work flexibly across the Frimley Health ICS patch as required.

Health and Safety

Ensure appropriate health and safety information, guidance and training is provided to staff, contractors and other site users within areas of responsibility.

Ensure construction and project activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, Trust policies and procedures.

Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your work.

Corporate Responsibilities

Support the Trust's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and comply with relevant policies and procedures.

Maintain appropriate confidentiality and comply with Trust requirements relating to information governance and the Freedom of Information Act.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the level and responsibilities of the role, as required.

This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.
