Production, Intake \& Inventory Operative

Production Supervisor / Factory Manager
Role Purpose
The Production, Intake \& Inventory Operative is responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the manufacturing site through a combination of production, material handling, intake, dispatch, and stock control activities. The role requires flexibility to work across multiple departments while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, hygiene, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Carry out general operative duties within the production area as required.
- Assist with processing, packing, labelling, and preparation of products in accordance with customer specifications and company procedures.
- Ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Maintain clean and organised work areas in line with food safety and hygiene requirements.
Goods Intake
- Receive incoming raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and other deliveries.
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Conduct visual inspections of incoming goods and report any discrepancies or quality concerns.
- Record intake information accurately within company systems and documentation.
Material Handling
- Move raw materials, packaging, and finished goods safely throughout the site.
- Supply production lines with required materials in a timely manner.
- Operate material handling equipment where authorised and trained.
- Ensure correct storage and rotation of stock in accordance with company procedures.
Dispatch Operations
- Prepare customer orders for dispatch.
- Pick, check, and load products accurately and efficiently.
- Complete dispatch documentation and maintain accurate shipment records.
- Liaise with drivers and transport providers as required.
Stock Control
- Participate in routine stock counts and inventory audits.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and support stock reconciliation activities.
- Assist in implementing stock control and inventory management best practices.
Compliance \& Safety
- Adhere to all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality, and Health \& Safety, procedures.
- Wear and maintain required PPE at all times.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and non-conformances promptly.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, food production, warehouse, or logistics environment.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work across multiple functions and departments.
Desirable
- Experience within the meat or food manufacturing sector.
- Forklift licence or experience operating material handling equipment.
- Experience with stock management or inventory systems.
- Knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and quality management systems.
