Job Description

**DETSI is looking for a Principal Technical Architect (AO8), facilitating projects and work across the Science Division. This role will sit in the Information and Digital Science Delivery team, facilitating projects and work across the Science Division.

The Principal Technical Architect (AO8) is responsible for leading the development of solution architectures across business, infrastructure, and functional areas, ensuring alignment with Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture (QGEA) standards and policies. This role involves creating technology roadmaps, identifying and assessing emerging technologies, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate potential impacts, threats, and opportunities, while also promoting the reuse of tools and platforms across science groups. Additionally, the role requires a strong commitment to workplace safety, equity, diversity, respect, and inclusion, as well as demonstrated leadership in fostering innovation, sharing knowledge, managing risks, and addressing both functional and non-functional requirements to deliver effective, secure, and sustainable solutions.

As the Principal Technical Architect, you will:

- Work with stakeholders such as Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Software Developers and Scientist/SMEs to describe, improve or develop technical architecture to meet the needs of the organisation.

- Work across various technology stacks or platforms (such as Web application frameworks like React, PostgreSQL, Azure Data Warehousing, High PerformanceCompute and ArcGIS) to design solutions to meet scientific business needs, leveraging cloud, on-prem hardware and SaaS solutions and aligning with QGEA.

- Liaise across clients, technical and corporate groups (including our Information and Technology Partners) to help facilitate cybersecurity, authentication, risk and other assessments to ensure policies, standards and audit needs are met for new and established platforms.

- Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace that is free from bullying, discrimination and harassment.

Ideally you will be in Dutton Park however, consideration will be given to an alternate location subject to availability at DETSI regional offices.
