Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Paramedic or PHRN to join our non-emergency medical services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in various situations, including emergency and non-emergency settings. As a Paramedic/PHRN, you will utilize your medical knowledge and skills to assess patients, administer treatments, and transport individuals to healthcare facilities while ensuring their safety and comfort. Position also includes opportunity for critical care provider course. Education opportunities will also include ACLS and PALS refreshers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments to determine the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses.
  • Administer basic life support and advanced life support as needed.
  • Provide critical care transport for patients requiring specialized medical attention.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection.
  • Conduct venipuncture for blood draws and IV access when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital staff regarding patient conditions and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care, including medical history and treatment provided.
  • Drive emergency vehicles safely and efficiently to transport patients to hospitals or other healthcare facilities.
  • Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and best practices in patient care.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Effective Paramedic/Critical Care skills as directed by the Medical Director and/or utilizing Statewide Protocols and standards.
  • Strong understanding of basic life support techniques and critical care protocols.
  • Familiarity with patient assessment methods and the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Perform shift Unit Checks/Inspections as prescribed by policy.
  • Perform shift Unit Decontamination as prescribed by policy.
  • Perform equipment decontamination as prescribed by policy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to emergency care.
  • Experience with aseptic techniques and venipuncture procedures is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being capable of independent decision-making.
  • Ability to learn and use electronic devices and computer programs and portals.
  • Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • EMT-P certification or PHRN
  • PA accredited PA Emergency Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) required
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Driver's License
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700 \& 800
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
