Job Description
The Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, securing, and optimizing Oracle database environments. The role ensures high availability, performance, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and database security while supporting business-critical applications and maintaining database infrastructure according to organizational standards.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases.
- Monitor database performance, availability, and health.
- Configure and manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and high availability solutions.
- Develop and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans.
- Perform database tuning and optimize SQL/PLSQL performance.
- Troubleshoot database issues and resolve performance problems.
- Manage database security, user accounts, roles, and access controls.
- Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities.
- Create and maintain database documentation and operational procedures.
- Support database replication, storage management, and capacity planning.
- Develop automation scripts for database administration and monitoring.
- Work closely with application teams to support business applications and ensure database reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Omani nationality is required.
Experience
- 4+ years of experience in Oracle Database Administration.
- Strong experience with Oracle Database versions 11g, 12c, 18c, and 19c.
- Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and high availability environments.
- Experience with RMAN backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and database migrations.
- Experience in database performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with cloud database platforms (Oracle Cloud, AWS, or Microsoft Azure) is preferred.
- Experience with scripting using Shell, Bash, Perl, or Python is an advantage.
