We're looking for a proactive and motivated Operations Manager to join and lead the team at our Western Sydney Distribution Centre in Arndell Park. This role will ensure the delivery of warehousing services at an optimal cost, safely and in line with business requirements.

A day in the life…

Reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager and focusing on meeting target values for warehousing service and cost KPIs, other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure a structured continuous improvement approach based on the application of Tools and the implementation of Best Practices.
  • Implement, monitor and manage Safety, Health and Environment, Quality and CARE regulations and Best Practices.
  • Manage the Shift Managers to ensure successful output of DC Operations through coaching, mentoring and issue resolution.
  • Meet customer requirements and deal with any unexpected Supply Chain disruptions.
  • Adapt to changes in the logistics and/or market environment.
  • Influence Distribution Management and Customer Service to continuously improve service and cost.
  • Collaboration with Customers and other functional departments (customer service, transportation, factories) to ensure freshness and avoidance of bad goods.
  • Select the right people, constantly engage, motivate and manage the team.
  • Manage any shopfloor issues through proactive communication and consultation with unionized workforce.
  • Support and help LEAN roll out, ensuring that a continuous improvement culture is developed and sustained.
  • Ensure that an EMS / OHS is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with the ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001.

What will make you successful

  • Joining a collaborative team of specialists, you will be a strong leader with a drive to deliver quality outcomes with efficiency and with a passion for continuous process improvement.
  • Degree qualification in Business/Supply Chain/Finance/Logistics/Engineering /Science/Food technology or a related field of study.
  • Experience in Warehouse Operational Supervision/Management, including Operational Planning and working with Unionized workforce.
  • Strong Leadership experience - Listen/Coach and support key team members and personnel.
  • Effective use of data gathering and Analysis tools. Review of data and execution of performance improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement mentality, strategies and passion to always deliver best possible service.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and facilitate change.
  • Ability to work efficiently, manage time and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work autonomously, within a team environment and with all levels of seniority.
  • You will be able to confidently communicate with corporate, DC/ supply chain and external stakeholders.
