An opportunity has become available for a Medical Director \| Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer (Forensic Medicine) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
About the role
The Medical Director will provide high level, clinical and strategic leadership for Forensic Medicine across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) and designated areas of South Brisbane to ensure the provision of quality, safe, effective and timely specialist services in assessment, intervention, treatment planning and evaluation, training and education, supervision, research and service development, in a manner that supports coordination of clinical care across the continuum and recognises the interdependency of clinical service provision with other divisions and internal and external stakeholders.
Clinical and operational leaders within the Division of Medicine work in a strong partnership model. The Medical Director will work with the Specialist Medical Services Leadership Team to lead Clinical Governance and provide oversight of the operational and financial governance of the Forensic Medicine Service.
Requirements for the role
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis screening.
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FFCFM (RCPA) or equivalent acceptable to the Faculty of Clinical Forensic Medicine of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Certified copies of relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
Strong clinical and teaching experience in Forensic Medicine.
The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for forensic medicine clinical service delivery.
The successful applicant will need to apply for unrestricted access to certain police establishments. At their discretion, the Queensland Police Service may require a criminal history check (if required, this will be in addition to Queensland Health requirements).

Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist: Base salary from $216,643 - $274,678 p.a
Senior Medical Officer - Advanced Credentialed Practice: Base salary from $216,643 - $259,072 p.a
