Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Mata Ahupae - School Administrator to join Te Kura Mahinga Tangata - School of Social and Cultural Studies on a permanent, full-time basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide coordination and administration support for the School’s postgraduate students.
  • Proactively enhance pastoral care for our postgraduate community.
  • Provide course administration and general administrative support for the academics and students of one of the programmes.
  • Contribute to teamwork within the professional team to contribute to the School administrative systems and to cover periods of leave as required.
  • Assist with finance and HR activities within the School to support the Pou Hautū - School Manager.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent administration, policy compliance, and pastoral care. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and self-management skills. You will have excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing as you will deal with a wide range of stakeholders. This role is busy, varied, extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience and excellence in customer service and office administration.
  • A tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience working in the tertiary sector.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Teams.
  • Proven ability to work to a very high standard of accuracy even under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and to learn new skills and systems quickly.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills with a wide range of people using a variety of communication methods.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to work to deadlines.
