Required Skill Set:
- Mainframe Application Analysis Migration
- Analyze COBOL programs, copybooks, and batch flows to identify migration complexity, dependencies, and refactoring needs.
- Remediate code for compatibility with target platforms (e.g., zOS to cloud-hosted services, replat form to emulation, or rewrite).
- Document current state and design future-state architectures for application components and batch processes.
- Database Data Migration (DB2)Evaluate DB2 schema, stored procedures, and SQL optimize queries and plan migration to cloud databases (e.g., Amazon RDSAurora, Azure SQL, Cloud SQL).
- Define data mapping, cleansing, and validation rules perform cutover planning and reconciliation for high-availability workloads.
- Batch Orchestration (JCL)Assess and refactor JCL streams, utilities, and scheduler integrations (e.g., Control-M) for cloud or hybrid execution.
- Create runbooks and fallback procedures for batch cycles, including error handling, logging, and rerun strategies.
- Testing Quality Assurance Build unit, integration, and regression test suites ensure functional parity and performance SLAs post-migration.
- Establish test data strategies and coordinate UAT with business stakeholders.
- Performance, Reliability Operations Profile performance bottlenecks tune COBOLDB2 interactions and batch schedules for cloud targets.
- Define observability (logs, metrics, traces) and implement operational dashboards alerts.
- Risk Compliance ensure alignment with BFSI regulatory controls (PIIPCI, data residency, audit trails).
- Participate in security reviews, encryption key management, and access control hardening.
- Collaboration Delivery Work cross-functionally with Cloud Architects, Data Engineers, Security, and Business SMEs.
- Contribute to migration waves, release planning, and change management documentation.
- Required Qualifications712 years of hands-on experience with COBOL, DB2 for zOS, and JCL (including utilities like DFSORT, IDCAMS, IEBCOPY, BMCIBM tools).
- Strong understanding of mainframe batch processing, VSAM, file transfers (SDSFFTPSFTP), and job scheduling (e.g., Control-M, CA-7).
- Experience in application assessment and migration from mainframe to cloud hybrid architectures.
- Expertise in SQL tuning and DB2 performance (EXPLAIN plans, indexes, statistics, commit strategies).Solid practices in SDLC, version control, CICD, and testing for legacy modernization.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical findings into business impacts.
- Nice-to-Have (Preferred)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWSAzureGCP) and migration tools (e.g., Micro Focus, Modern Systems, IBM zOS Connect, IDzRDz).
- Knowledge of API enablement for mainframe services (RESTJSON via zOS Connect, MQ).
- Experience with data replication and CDC tools (Q Replication, IBM InfoSphere, AttunityCDC).
- Familiarity with DevOps for legacy workloads, Infra-as-Code (Terraform), and containerization concepts.
Salary Range - CA$ 100,000 - CA$ 120,000 Per Year
