Our Strategy puni is looking for a Kaiārahi, Te Rautaki me te Whakatairanga Kōrero | Manager, Strategy & Communications. The focus of this role is to ensure that the strategy development process is well facilitated and informed by evidence and insight from organisational performance.
Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity
The Manager, Strategy & Communications oversees the development of Te Puni Kōkiri strategic direction. The team support the General Manager, Deputy Secretary and ELT to develop clear strategic direction for the Ministry, informed by insights about strategic performance and the external environment.
In this role you will:
Provide leadership to a team of highly motivated professionals within the strategy and performance directorate. Engaging and motivating kaimahi for success and creating an environment that shares knowledge and innovates together
Lead the development and implementation of our strategy and communication work programme that aligns to our priorities as a Ministry, informed by insights about strategic performance, and the wider environment
Manage the Communications team and develop the comms strategy to ensure effective delivery of information to internal and external stakeholders.
The likely appointment range is $153,574 - $191,967 based on skills and experience.

With resilience, determination and leadership skills, the ideal candidate is an agile thinker who embraces change, sees opportunities, potential risks and solutions, and is confident engaging with Executive Leadership and Ministers.
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga, working level fluency in te reo Māori, and comprehension understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and implications for Te Puni Kōkiri.
Experience operating at a senior management level.
Competent working in, and as a leader in a te ao Māori environment, including in depth tikanga knowledge and a level of fluency in Te Reo Māori.
Proven ability within an organisational performance public sector environment. Respected thought and people leader, with strengths in leading change, coaching and mentoring staff.
Demonstrated ability to develop, and lead and deliver enterprise-wide programmes of work that align organisational strategy, performance insights and cross-puni priorities, with strong governance, stakeholder engagement and clear delivery disciplines.
Working knowledge of and experience in managing a Communications team, developing communications strategies, providing strategic communication advice to senior managers, while adhering to public sector requirements and developing a broad base of internal and external relationships, including the media.
A relationship builder, with confidence presenting to, influencing and directing senior leadership around strategy.
