• Job Introduction

Horton Housing are currently recruiting for an experienced Communications Manager who will be able to demonstrate and evidence strong experience working in communications, media and public relations, marketing, publications, campaigns, brand and reputation, ensuring all activity reflects Horton’s values.

This role is being offered on a permanent contract, working 28 to 35 hours per week (Hybrid and flexible hours will be available across Monday to Friday) with an annual salary of £39,993.00 (full time annual salary - will be pro rata'd for part time hours). You will also be entitled to 6 weeks paid annual leave (plus bank holidays) and access to our Employee Assistance Programme.

Working with the Head of Culture, Communications \& Insights, SLT and colleagues across Horton, you will provide all aspects of internal and external communications support, regulatory expectations and culture development. You will also develop, deliver and review Horton’s communications strategies and internal \& external communications action plans. You will also be responsible for leading a small team - Communications \& Marketing Officer \& Communications Assistant.

Essential skills and experience required for the role:

• Must be able to evidence experience in a communications, public relations, marketing or related role.
• Professional qualification or accreditation in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field, such as CIPR or CIM.
• Experience of developing and delivering integrated communications plans across internal and external channels.
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements relating to copyright, defamation and confidentiality.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences.
• Experience of media relations, reputation management and supporting communications around sensitive or complex issues.
• Strong digital communications skills, including website management, social media planning, content creation and use of analytics.
• Understanding of accessibility, plain English and inclusive communication principles.
• Knowledge of GDPR, confidentiality, copyright and reputational risk in a communications context.
• Ability to lead, support and develop a small team.
• Ability to build effective relationships with senior leaders, managers, colleagues, partners and people accessing services.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Good judgement, political awareness and the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
• Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice, or a willingness to develop this understanding quickly.

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle that can be insured for business use, unless a reasonable adjustment applies.
