We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the development of innovative physical products from concept through to production. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will provide technical leadership across the product portfolio while developing and mentoring a small team of engineers responsible for bringing new products to market.
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role where you'll balance technical problem-solving, product development and team leadership, while contributing to broader commercial and strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end engineering and product development activities from concept, design and validation through to production launch.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of four engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, quality and continuous improvement.
- Drive product design, performance, durability and manufacturability outcomes.
- Oversee engineering project delivery across multiple concurrent development programs.
- Partner with manufacturing, supply chain and quality teams to ensure successful product industrialisation.
- Lead design reviews, testing programs, validation activities and engineering governance.
- Manage external engineering partners, suppliers and technical service providers.
- Identify opportunities for product enhancement, cost optimisation and value engineering.
- Support business case development, product roadmap planning and investment decisions.
About You
- Degree qualified engineer (Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing or related discipline).
- Proven experience leading engineering teams within a product development or manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in designing and developing physical products from concept through production.
- Experience balancing technical, manufacturing and commercial considerations throughout the development lifecycle.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex engineering programs on time and within budget.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working with suppliers, contract manufacturers or development partners.
- Passion for well-engineered products and a commitment to quality.
