Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide professional assistance throughout their shopping experience.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable building materials and related products.
- Demonstrate product features, specifications, applications, and benefits.
- Prepare quotations and coordinate with the counter sales team for invoice preparation.
- Achieve monthly and annual sales targets set by management.
- Maintain strong knowledge of all building materials, including:
- Cement and concrete products
- Tiles and sanitary ware
- Plumbing materials
- Electrical items
- Paints and accessories
- Hardware and hand tools
- Safety products
- Ensure showroom shelves and displays are clean, organised, and fully stocked.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure correct product pricing and labelling.
- Assist customers in locating products within the showroom and warehouse.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure timely product availability and delivery.
- Follow up on customer enquiries and quotations to convert them into sales.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, walk-in customers, and retail clients.
- Cross-sell and upsell complementary products to maximise sales.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate unresolved issues to the Branch Manager.
- Monitor competitor products and market trends and share feedback with management.
- Participate in stock counts and inventory verification when required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and showroom procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a building materials retail showroom or trading company.
