Job Description

Leitrim Development Company wishes to recruit for the position of Finance Process Specialist. The Financial Process Specialist will take ownership of end-to-and financial processes within our Sage accounting ecosystem. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing all core accounting workflows—from transaction entry to reporting—ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of Sage financial modules with strong process management and analytical skills to support both day-to-day finance operations and strategic decision-making.

This will be a part time role - 21 hours per week.

Pay Range: 40k-45k pro rata

Job Description

The Financial Process Specialist will take ownership of end-to-and financial processes within the Sage accounting ecosystem. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing all core accounting workflows—from transaction entry to reporting—ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of Sage financial modules with strong process management and analytical skills to support both day-to-day finance operations and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Sage System Process Design: Develop, implement and maintain structured end-to-end workflows for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Payroll and Nominal Ledger functions within Sage.

Transaction Management: Ensure timely, accurate, and complete posting of financial transactions, including period and year-end routines, reconciliations, and allocations.

Financial Reporting \& Analysis: Create, automate, and validate management reports, balance sheets, P\&L statements, and variance analyses using Sage reporting tools.

Process Optimization: Identify inefficiencies in current workflows; implement process improvements and automation within Sage to enhance accuracy and reduce manual workload.

Regulatory \& Internal Compliance: Maintain adherence to accounting standards, VAT regulations, and audit requirements; ensure internal controls are embedded in processes.

Integration \& Automation: Configure Sage modules for seamless integration, enabling real-time financial insights and consistent data across departments.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with finance team members, programme Co-Ordinators, and external auditors to support process alignment and reporting requirements.

Training \& Documentation: Develop user guides, process maps, and perform training sessions for staff to ensure standardized use of Sage financial processes.

Skills \& Competencies

  • Proven experience with Sage 50, Sage 200, or Sage Intacct, including configuration, module management, and process implementation
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end finance operations including AP/AR, GL, cash management, and financial reporting
  • Ability to work autonomously in a small business environment
  • Excellent analytical skills, process documentation expertise, and ability to optimize workflows for efficiency.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other reporting or automation tools integrated with Sage.

Qualifications \& Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or professional accounting designation preferred (e.g., CIMA, ACCA).
  • Proven experience with Sage accounting systems including configuration, module management, and process implementation.
  • Prior experience implementing automated, end-to-end finance processes within a scalable enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to Ireland/UK financial accounting.
