Financial Analyst

Responsibilities:
Financial reporting
- Preparation of month end working papers.
- Assist with the internal and external financial statement audits and review.
- Perform bank reconciliation and account reconciliation on timely basis and present it in meaningful manner.
- Perform analytical functions including analysis of the general ledger, account reconciliation, foreign exchange gain/loss transactions, consulting/transaction expenses, and B/S and P\&L variance analysis.
- Perform G\&A accrual process and analytics (to support G\&A budgeting/ forecasting process).
- Responsible for performing data extraction, aggregation, management, and quality reviews of data from multiple data sources for use in reporting.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the Processing Agreement, Partnership Agreements and other related agreements.
- Review and analyze the Sturgeon Refinery’s monthly IPTA Schedules and assess the reasonableness of the Debt toll and Operating costs. Develop reporting and analyses from accounting results to ensure counterparties are operating efficiently and within the terms of the respective agreements.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statement information (i.e. Sales $/bbl, Inventory reconciliation and AR Credit loss provision).
General Accounting
- Be an active participant in the processing of the monthly marketing and royalty activities including supporting the invoicing and settlement processes and recording payment of EFTs.
- Address inquiries on invoices, and account balances, and coordinate with others to resolve issues.
- Responsible for regular review and account reconciliations of marketing and royalty receivable and payable balances.
- Actively work to improve, develop and strengthen these processes.
Internal controls over financial reporting
- Evaluate control design and complete testing over key controls.
Special Projects
- Work closely with other members of the accounting team on ad hoc requests.
- Look for opportunities to enhance the reporting capabilities and efficiency through process improvements, automation and/or dashboarding.
Qualifications:

- Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the oil and gas industry and possesses a strong working knowledge of IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in working in dynamic environment dealing with complex issues.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills.
- Strong communication, both written and oral, with effective interpersonal skills.
- An enthusiastic, reliable, and professional individual.

- Continuously seek process improvements.
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail while having the ability to see the “big picture”.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with Dynamics 365 preferred.
