An exciting opportunity is available for a Production Leading Hand to join a well-established manufacturer of heavy vehicle components and truck accessories.

Based in Kenwick, this is a hands-on role combining working on the tools with leading and supporting a small production team. You will play an important role in keeping production running smoothly, ensuring jobs are completed to a high standard and deadlines are met.

This position would suit an experienced tradesperson or production worker who is ready to take the next step into a leadership role. Previous supervisory or management experience is not required — we are looking for someone with the right attitude, practical skills and willingness to take ownership.

About the Role

This is a genuine 50/50 hands-on and leadership-style position. You'll spend part of your day working alongside the team on the tools and part of your day coordinating jobs, checking progress, helping solve issues and making sure production deadlines are met.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Helping lead and coordinate a small production team.
• Ensuring production jobs are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Allocating and prioritising work to keep production moving efficiently.
• Working alongside the team on the tools across fabrication, welding and assembly.
• Assisting team members with technical or production-related issues.
• Monitoring job progress and helping identify and resolve production delays.
• Ensuring production areas, tools and equipment are maintained and organised.
• Assisting with quality checks and ensuring work meets required standards.
• Supporting the training and development of new team members.
• Completing minor administrative tasks such as production paperwork, work orders and staff hours.
• Assisting with workshop consumables and stock requirements.
• Helping cover production requirements during busy periods or staff absences.
• Supporting technical product enquiries, repairs and warranty-related assessments when required.

What You'll Be Working On

The business manufactures a range of truck and trailer components and accessories for the heavy vehicle transport industry, including:

• Fifth wheels / turntables
• Axles
• Suspension systems
• Associated heavy vehicle components

You will be involved in the fabrication, welding and assembly of these products, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to remain hands-on.

About You

We're looking for someone who is ready to move from being a skilled tradesperson or production worker into a Leading Hand position.

You don't need previous supervisory experience. What matters most is that you:

• Have solid fabrication, welding, mechanical or manufacturing experience.
• Are confident working with your hands and enjoy being involved in production.
• Have a strong eye for quality and attention to detail.
• Can organise your own work and help others stay on track.
• Are reliable, proactive and willing to take responsibility.
• Communicate well and are comfortable giving direction to team members.
• Can work as part of a team while also taking the initiative when required.
• Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
• Want to develop your leadership skills and take the next step in your career.
• Cert III - Fabrication preferred

Experience in heavy vehicle manufacturing, transport equipment or a similar industry will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
