Guaranteed hours of work per week: at least 30 hours (Mon-Sat)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Trade Assistant to support Electricians/Electrical Engineer in electrical maintenance and new building projects. The role involves assisting with electrical installations, repairs, and general maintenance work, including HVAC systems, HRV systems, CCTV cameras, and alarm systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience, be safety-conscious, and possess a strong willingness to learn and adapt to dynamic work environments.

Main duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

1. Electrical Maintenance and Repairs:

Assist Electricians/Electrical Engineer in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Perform routine maintenance tasks under the supervision of a licensed Electrician/Electrical Engineer.

2. New Building Electrical Work:

Support in wiring, installation of electrical fixtures, and setting up electrical systems for new construction projects.

Help in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.

3. HVAC System Installation and Maintenance:

Assist in installing and maintaining HVAC systems, ensuring all electrical connections are secure and compliant with standards.

Work collaboratively with the HVAC team to ensure smooth operation.

4. CCTV and Alarm Systems Installation:

Aid in the installation, setup, and testing of CCTV cameras and alarm systems.

Run cables, mount devices, and configure systems under guidance.

5. General Support Duties:

Handle and organize tools, materials, and equipment required for the job.

Ensure a clean and safe worksite by adhering to workplace safety protocols.

Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installations.

Skills and Qualifications for the job:

• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and tools.
• Previous experience as a trade assistant or in a similar role (preferred).
• Familiarity with HVAC, CCTV, and alarm systems installation (an advantage).
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit to handle the demands of the role, including lifting and working in confined spaces.

Requirements for the job:

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• Hold a relevant Level 4 Trade Certificate or higher qualification; or
• Have a minimum of 2 years' relevant industrial work experience.

The following would be an advantage:

• Current EWRB registration or a Limited Licence.

Work Environment: * Dynamic work settings, including construction sites, offices, and residential buildings. * May require working at heights or in confined spaces. * Regular use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment provided by A1 Tech Services NZ Ltd).
