We are currently seeking a passionate, dependable, and energetic Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join our growing team.

Job Summary

As an Early Childhood Educator at Selis Daycare, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and stimulating learning environment for young children.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other educators to plan and deliver age-appropriate activities, support children's individual developmental needs, maintain a safe and positive classroom environment, and build strong relationships with children and their families.

We are looking for an educator who is caring, professional, creative, patient, and genuinely passionate about early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning activities that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, language, and creative development.
• Create a warm, inclusive, and engaging environment in which children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to explore.
• Provide attentive and responsive care based on each child's individual needs, interests, abilities, and developmental stage.
• Supervise children closely and maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Observe children's development and document learning, progress, interests, and emerging needs.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding children's experiences, development, and daily activities.
• Support children with diverse abilities and needs through appropriate adaptations and individualized assistance.
• Guide children's behaviour using positive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate strategies.
• Encourage independence, cooperation, communication, problem-solving, and positive peer relationships.
• Work collaboratively with other educators and centre staff in planning activities, routines, special events, and learning experiences.
• Support daily routines including meals and snacks, toileting, hygiene, rest periods, transitions, indoor activities, and outdoor play.
• Follow Selis Daycare policies and procedures as well as applicable childcare licensing, health, safety, and professional requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards when working with children and families.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, program planning, and continuous improvement of the daycare program.

Qualifications

• Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate in British Columbia.
• Education in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution.
• Previous experience working in a licensed childcare, preschool, daycare, or early learning environment is preferred.
• Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate early childhood practices.
• Ability to plan and facilitate engaging activities for individual children and groups.
• Caring, patient, dependable, and professional approach to working with children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively and respectfully as part of a team.
• Experience supporting children with diverse abilities or additional support needs is an asset.
• Strong organizational and classroom-management skills.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for every child and family.

Applicants must also be able to satisfy applicable childcare employment requirements, including required background screening and health/safety certifications.
