Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Driver \& Fleet Coordinator to oversee our logistics operations and manage our driving team. This role involves coordinating delivery schedules, supervising drivers, and ensuring efficient utilisation of resources. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, solid driving experience, and a good understanding of warehouse operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team while maintaining high standards of safety and service.
The Role
This is a hands-on role responsible for managing the full driver lifecycle - from recruitment and onboarding through to compliance, payments, and performance. You will work closely with operations to ensure routes are always covered and the driver workforce is running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities Driver Recruitment \& Planning
- Recruit drivers (van, 7.5t, HGV, agency \& owner drivers)
- Maintain a strong pipeline to meet daily operational demand
- Manage job adverts, agencies, and referrals
Onboarding \& Setup
- Handle full onboarding process for new drivers
- Verify all documentation (licence, CPC, right to work, insurance)
- Set drivers up on internal systems and ensure they are ready to start
Compliance \& Training
- Ensure all drivers meet UK compliance standards (DVLA, WTD, tachograph, CPC)
- Maintain accurate driver records and compliance logs
- Deliver onboarding training and refresher guidance where required
Driver Payments
- Manage weekly driver payments
- Check routes, hours, and completed jobs before processing
- Resolve payment queries efficiently
Performance Management
- Monitor driver performance and service levels
- Address issues quickly and maintain high standards
- Build strong relationships to improve driver retention
Requirements
- Experience in logistics, transport, or driver recruitment
- Strong organisational and admin skills
- Confident communicator with good problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail
Desirable
- Knowledge of UK driver regulations (WTD, tachograph, CPC)
- Experience with transport systems (TMS, Samsara or similar)
- Experience managing driver payroll or payments
- CIPD level 3 or 5 qualification

Pay: £32,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
