Primary objective
Lead the Office of the Chief Clinical Information Officer’s Clinical Engagement and Design Support team in delivering user-centred digital
systems that improve healthcare delivery and patient care. Engage clinical practitioners with using Human-Centred Design principles to
ensure solutions are innovative, clinically governed, and sustainable.
Context statement
This team connects healthcare workers with digital system development, focusing on optimising and supporting the NT Health clinical
record system Acacia, governance and support of other clinical systems, and developing new digital solutions. The position will lead the
application of user-centric design to translate clinical insights into technology solutions that align with patient care and clinical governance
requirements. Success is measured by increased adoption of innovative healthcare solutions, improved patient outcomes, and clinician
satisfaction.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Report to the CCIO and lead the clinical engagement and design support team.
2. Build strong relationships with clinical practitioners to understand their needs and ensure IT systems meet clinical governance
requirements.
3. Collaborate with the Department of Corporate and Digital Development (DCDD) to provide clinical expertise and guide digital system
development and management.
4. Apply Human-Centred Design principles to digital solutions, prioritising user experience for clinicians and patients.
5. Coordinate NT Health clinical expertise into health system projects, including the Core Clinical Systems Renewal Program.
6. Translate clinical feedback into actionable design and technical requirements to integrate technology with patient care goals.
7. Ensure IT systems comply with digital health and clinical governance standards and regulations.
8. Adhere to service quality and work health and safety policies to maintain high-quality, safe workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience applying Human-Centred Design principles to create user-centred healthcare solutions.
2. Knowledge of healthcare digital systems, governance, regulatory standards, and software development processes.
3. Demonstrated skills in leading a team.
4. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clinical practitioners and effectively communicate insights to diverse
stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with digital systems delivery and support teams
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a capacity for innovative solutions to enhance patient outcomes and clinician
satisfaction.
Desirable
1. Qualification or background in: Health Informatics, Human or User Centred Design / Human Factors / Design Thinking / Organisational
Psychology / Behavioural Science / Change Management / Digital Solution design and development.
2. A healthcare related degree and experience and in-depth knowledge of clinical workflows and healthcare IT systems.
3. Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA)
