About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team. Working on our fleet of buses, you will play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and reliability standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic who takes pride in their work and enjoys working in a busy workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on our fleet of buses.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and complete scheduled servicing.
  • Carry out safety inspections and ensure all work complies with company and legal standards.
  • Prepare vehicles for CVRT inspections and carry out any necessary repairs.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and complete roadside repairs where required.
  • Complete maintenance records and job documentation accurately.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to prioritise repairs and minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Ensure the workshop is kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining parts and tool inventories where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Diesel/Bus Mechanic or equivalent recognised mechanical qualification.
  • Experience working on commercial vehicles, buses, coaches, or HGVs.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Good understanding of diesel engines, braking systems, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working on PSV or coach fleets.
  • Category D (Bus) or Category C (Truck) driving licence.
  • Experience with diagnostic software and electronic vehicle systems.
  • Welding or fabrication experience would be an advantage, but not essential.
