We are looking for a Construction Labourer with landscaping experience who can do and assists with a wide range of construction, landscaping, and outdoor improvement projects. The role involves site preparation, earthworks, material handling, hard landscaping, planting, irrigation, drainage, and general construction duties. The position requires physical fitness, practical skills, the ability to operate basic tools and equipment, and a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with general construction and landscaping activities on residential, commercial, and public projects.
- Prepare construction and landscaping sites by clearing vegetation, removing debris, excavating, levelling, grading, and compacting soil.
- Load, unload, transport, and distribute soil, sand, gravel, mulch, concrete, plants, paving materials, and other construction materials.
- Assist with the installation of paving, pathways, kerbs, retaining walls, garden edging, steps, and other hard landscaping features.
- Dig trenches and assist with the installation and repair of irrigation, drainage, and water systems.
- Assist with concrete preparation, mixing, pouring, spreading, and finishing.
- Prepare soil and planting areas and assist with planting trees, shrubs, flowers, turf, and other vegetation.
- Spread topsoil, mulch, gravel, sand, and other landscaping materials.
- Operate and maintain basic hand tools, power tools, wheelbarrows, compactors, and other equipment as required.
- Assist skilled landscapers, tradespeople, and supervisors with construction and landscaping tasks.
- Perform general site cleaning and remove construction waste and unwanted materials.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a clean, organised, and safe condition.
- Follow project plans, work instructions, and directions provided by supervisors.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report hazards, damaged equipment, or unsafe working conditions to the supervisor.
- Work effectively as part of a team and complete assigned tasks within required timeframes.
- Carry out general maintenance and other labouring duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience as a construction labourer, landscaping labourer, or in a similar outdoor construction role.
- Practical experience in landscaping, site preparation, earthworks, paving, planting, irrigation, or drainage.
- Basic knowledge of construction and landscaping methods and materials.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools and power tools.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling, lifting, digging, bending, and other physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently with supervisors and other team members.
- Good communication, reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant construction, landscaping, machinery, or occupational health and safety training is an advantage.
- A valid driver's licence and experience operating relevant machinery or equipment may be desirable, depending on the position.
