Your Mission

As Configuration Team Leader, you will lead the end-to-end operation of the Configuration Centre in Hemel Hempstead. You will be accountable for ensuring customer configuration device requests move seamlessly through the order lifecycle. You will work closely with the warehouse team accepting goods-in to the config area leading build and configuration services, before passing back to warehouse for dispatch, and delivery meeting customer, quality, security and SLA expectations.

The Configuration Centre is a critical link between hardware supply and customer delivery. This role ensures customers receive fully configured, ready-to-use technology on time and to the highest quality standards directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational performance.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as the key interface between warehouse, services, sales, and customers for all configuration activity
  • Ensure customers receive fully configured, quality-assured devices on time
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of configuration engineers/technicians
  • Allocate and prioritise workload in line with customer SLAs and business demand
  • Drive productivity, efficiency, and adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Oversee device build, staging, and configuration across a range of hardware
  • Ensure all builds meet quality standards, customer specifications, and pass QA before dispatch
  • Maintain configuration accuracy, documentation, and audit trails
  • Manage stock integrity and coordinate dispatch readiness with warehouse teams
  • Monitor delivery performance against SLAs, KPIs, and OLAs
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and escalations
  • Provide reporting on throughput, quality, and delivery performance
  • Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and automation across processes
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal policies, and security standards
  • Support audits and the rollout of new configuration services

What experience we think you'll need

  • Proven experience in IT build, configuration, staging, or deployment environments
  • In-depth understanding of IT hardware and hand on experience with Intune \& EndPoint is a must (SCCM and Jamf desirable)
  • Experience leading or supervising technical/operational teams
  • Strong understanding of hardware lifecycle services (build, imaging, asset tagging)
  • Experience working in warehouse or logistics-linked operations
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
  • Familiarity with ITIL or service delivery frameworks (desirable)
  • Ability to deliver against SLAs for configuration and dispatch timelines
  • Track record of maintaining build accuracy, throughput, and low defect rates
  • Focus on stock accuracy, team productivity, and health \& safety compliance
