Job Description

Position Summary

The Community Engagement Specialist leads the marketing and communications efforts of Harvest House, strengthening our visibility, deepening community relationships, and building the case for support across Western New York. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies that elevate our mission, expand our reach, and inspire engagement from donors, partners, volunteers, and the broader community.

Responsibilities:

Marketing \& Communications Leadership

· Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.

· Create compelling messaging and storytelling that clearly communicates the mission, impact, and needs of Harvest House.

· Produce content for newsletters, press releases, impact stories, and donor communications.

· Maintain brand consistency across all platforms and materials.

Digital Presence \& Social Media

· Create and maintain a strong, engaging social media presence across selected platforms.

· Plan and execute content calendars, campaigns, and storytelling initiatives.

· Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to increase reach, engagement, and conversions.

· Respond to community interactions and foster an active online community.

Website \& Digital Optimization

· Manage and update the Harvest House website to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and strong user experience.

· Optimize site performance, SEO, and content structure to increase visibility and traffic.

· Track and report digital metrics to guide decision-making.

Campaign \& Project Support

· Assist in planning and executing marketing components of fundraising campaigns and special events.

· Develop print and digital collateral, including flyers, brochures, and event materials.

· Coordinate photography, videography, and storytelling assets to highlight program impact.

Additional Supporting Activities

· Build and maintain relationships with community partners, donors, volunteers, and local organizations

· Maintain a library of brand assets, templates, and media resources.

· Support internal communications to ensure staff alignment and awareness.

· Collaborate with program teams to gather stories, data, and updates for public use.

· Track KPIs and prepare regular reports on marketing performance and community engagement.

· Handle confidential information as defined in Harvest House’s policies.

· Comply with all Harvest House policies and procedures and all government and legal requirements.

· Attend and participate in organizational staff meetings and training.

· Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

HH Senior Staff Team Responsibilities:

· Helping to advance Harvest House’s Wellspring Model, which works towards building a multigenerational, intersectional approach to implementing community-based solutions, ensuring the community has access to the resources and connections that sustain and enhance their lives.

· Work within teams to incorporate our Trauma-Informed Leadership Model into all organizational initiatives, continuing to build on person-centered data collection, research, and outcomes.

· Ensure Harvest House operates consistently and ethically within its’ Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

· Comply with the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect sensitive health information from disclosure without patient consent.

· Comply with privacy laws, NY State/Federal Department of Health laws, and legal regulations and requirements.

· Protect confidential information as defined in Harvest House’s Employee Handbook. 

· Comply with all Harvest House policies and procedures and all government and legal requirements. 

· Communicate department opening and closing with the security officer on shift.

· Attend and participate in quality initiatives, team meetings, case conferences, community advisory groups, and training as requested by your supervisor.  

· Work alongside the Executive Management Team to coordinate the collection of data and statistics, grant copy, grant reporting, and outcome reports related to your job description. 

· Work alongside the Senior Staff Team to implement and/or maintain the Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) system to integrate data and track organizational outcomes.  

· Update your department activities, events, etc. on the Master Calendar, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, events, \& activities and staffing schedules

· Communicate security needs in a timely manner to New Hope Program Manager.  

· Communicate department opening and closing with the security officer on shift as applicable.

· Attend and participate in quality initiatives, team meetings, case conferences, board committee meetings, senior staff meetings, community advisory groups, and training as requested by your supervisor.  

· Ensure that your department is staffed appropriately during employee absences and vacations.

· Work with other Harvest House departments to streamline services within and outside the building.

· Create, update, and maintain the agency’s style guide.

· Experience tracking and interpreting metrics and analytics.

· Creative thinker with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Experience \& Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred.

· 1–2 years of experience in marketing, communications, or community engagement.

· Experience with social media management tools, website CMS platforms, and basic graphic design is a plus.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
