An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse (Day Medical Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Lead, motivate, and promote inclusiveness, through a team-focused approach to support the development of a high-performing team
Coordinate patient care and flow through comprehensive assessment, clinical decision-making, and effective management of the care process
Promote a safe, efficient, and supportive environment through coordinating nursing staff and material resources
Nurture effective therapeutic and professional relationships between unit staff, treating teams, and visiting specialist teams
Utilise advanced clinical skills including intravenous cannulation, Port-a-Cath access and management, and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) management
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

About Us
The Day Medical Unit (DMU) comprises thirteen treatment beds/chairs, one negative pressure room, three consultation rooms, and one procedure room and operates within the division of Medicine.
The Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) DMU works in partnership with the Tugun DMU, with both services managed under the same Nurse Unit Manager (NUM). Staff may be required to work across both campuses at times to support service delivery, operational flexibility, and the continued development and growth of Day Medical Unit services. Across both campuses, approximately 1,100 infusions and procedures are completed each month, with both units experiencing ongoing growth in demand and service activity.
The GCUH DMU provides specialised care to patients requiring management of both chronic and acute non-chemotherapy treatments, working collaboratively with outpatient services and inpatient care areas to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Patient cohorts include, but are not limited to, renal, neurology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), maternity, and infectious diseases. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that is committed to providing safe, patient-centred, and evidence-based treatment.
