We (NAFA Ltd) are an Auckland-based company specialised in architectural design and development services across New Zealand. We offer a full range of solutions, including building consent and resource consent applications, subdivision planning, and renovation and extension projects.
Due to the development of our business, we are now looking for an experienced Civil Engineering Draftsperson [ ANZSCO 312211 – Civil Engineering Draftsperson] to join our team:
Job Type: Full-time (30-35 hours/week), permanent position
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drafting
Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings, plans, layouts, and technical documentation using CAD or other civil design software.
Draft plans and designs for civil engineering works.
Accurately reflect the requirements of civil engineers and clients in plans and designs
Ensure drawings and documentation are prepared in accordance with applicable New Zealand standards, local authority requirements, project specifications, and relevant health and safety requirements.
2. Communication and liaison
Interpret engineering instructions, design briefs, and specifications and communicate them to stakeholders where necessary.
Assist civil engineering with the preparation of design, calculation, and documentation for resource consent, building consent, etc.
Coordinate with other disciplines, such as surveyors and architects, to ensure project quality and timely delivery.
Assist with estimating material quantities and preparing technical information needed for pricing, tendering, construction planning, and project reporting.
3. Documentation
Amend and update drawings, designs, and other relevant documents following engineer review, council comments, client instructions, contractor feedback, and site changes.
Assist in preparing modification drawings, construction issue drawings, and revised drawing packages during and after project completion.
Maintain, review, and file documents for each key stage of the project.

Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, or similar drafting/design software.
Familiarity with New Zealand local council engineering standards and approval processes.
Understanding of construction drawings, civil specifications, survey plans, and as-built documentation.
Good communication skills for working with engineers, surveyors, contractors, clients, and council officers.
Good time management and ability to meet project deadlines.
Commitment to accuracy, health and safety, and professional documentation standards.
Be able to work under pressure.
Willing to undergo a drug test or provide a test result when required by law or the WorkSafe New Zealand, employer or other government agencies.
